Summary:
Departed Denver at 0530 for SW Oklahoma target area. Arrived in Blair, OK at 1500 and sat on a side road watching cumulus clouds shoot up, hit the CAP and then die. Finally at around 1700 the CAP was broke and things started to look interesting. Around 1900 sat just south of Rocky, OK with about a hundred other chasers and watched a very picturesque storm to the West. After some time it appeared that the updrafts seemed to be weakening despite some rotation with this storm and another storm was starting to build to the SW. I decided to pursue the 2nd storm........and then the 1st storm reintensified and produced a brief tornado near Cordell. The 2nd storm produced some rain.........live and learn.
The CAP is broke through........taken from Blair, OK
Very picturesque storm forms near Rocky, OK
Close up of the rotation just NW of Rocky, OK
This is a good sign I am in the RIGHT BALLPARK!!
Very interesting cloud formation taken from Cordell,
OK after the tornado
