Another promising day that ended in a bust.   Departed Denver at 5 am for the Texas Panhandle.   Arrived in Pampa, TX at 1300 and set up shop in a field W of town.  Basically sat and watched DSS for 3hrs waiting for storms to fire.   10/10 overcast once again concealed any kind of daytime heating and observation.  I needed to be home the next morning, so after some touristy driving around the Panhandle I decided to head home at around 1800 from near Wheeler, TX.  Storms started firing well after dark and I finally got into a Severe Thunderstorm near Garden City.   Ran into 1" hail just south of there.  Got to Goodland, KS around 0001 and ran into 0 visibility.........if that were not enough, when I got to Limon I ran into the cold front that had blasted through Denver and was now in a snow storm WITH THUNDERSNOW!!  After getting through Limon 60 mph gusts completely blinded me (and everyone else) on I-70.  I followed a semi truck for the next 2 1/2 hours at speeds of 10-25 mph until when we reached Byers.  Near Byers the blowing snow got so heavy that the semi drove off the road.  Where o'where was good ol CDOT?  NOWHERE!!  After making sure the semi truck driver was ok, I continued back on my trek to get home at 5-10 mph!!  FINALLY A CDOT PLOW!!  Near Bennett!!  YEAH BABY!! Some 27 hours after I had left and 1,050 miles later, I was now back home!!

Finally a T-Storm near Garden City, KS

Thundersnow near Limon, CO

Nothing more fun than driving in a blizzard.
