Location: Deer Trail, CO

Chase Partner:  Fred the F5

Summary:   Another day of high hopes turned sour by low moisture and whatever else......at this point in the season, I can safely say that this is the worst season I have had chasing. ............so far.   Started out near Wiggins, CO with original target near Holyoke, CO.   Opted for Wiggins because as I was leaving Denver there was convection already occurring in Elbert County.    Everything model wise said that Holyoke was the place to be, but after May 10, 2004 tough to forget about the CO magic that takes place down that way.   So I sat and watched that convection develop and after about 45 min I started heading toward Deer Trail for intercept as it quickly intensified.   Enroute it went TOR and I stopped in Deer Trail and watched it basically die.   I did see one funnel as there were reports of funnels with the storm.    Not really where you would expect it on the leading edge of the storm, but nonetheless it was there.    After it died and the dew points plummeted I headed to Seibert, CO and then north toward Yuma where another storm exploded.    As I made the approach, it completely collapsed again.   The outflow winds heading toward my original target and better moisture.   I could see more towers going up to the east and north east of my location and I thought finally something would happen........only to watch in vain as these towers collapsed as well.    Pretty frustrating day all in all.   Even the CG pictures I shot near Fort Morgan on the way back home sucked.

TOR warned storm near Agate, CO from Deer Trail.
